One In The Jungle - Mickey Finn & MC Navigator June 1996

Drum 'n' Bass was a breath of fresh air in the mid 90s, a multicultural blend of many things that would catch my young ears searching for new sounds. Breaks, Beats, borrowing from Jazz, Hip Hop, Dance Music, Reggae and Dancehall, sampling films for atmosphere or just humour. It was exciting, new and funky.

BBC Radio 1 was still at the forefront of youth and music culture at the time (maybe it still is and I'm too old to know) and had the fantastic One In The Jungle show running weekly in '96/97.

I probably didn't know much about Mickey Finn or MC Navigator then or now but I taped it and rinsed it many times over the years since....move the couch back and enjoy.

Gilles Peterson - Worldwide - BBC Radio 1 - 6th Aug 1998 (Show #2)

Gilles Peterson started his first nationwide Worldwide radio show on Radio 1 in 1998 and is still going strong each Saturday on 6Music. For people who loved music it was an education each week. Sure there were other DJs and shows that played Jazz or smatterings of Soul or Hip Hop or were playing the current Mo Wax, Ninjatune or Warp releases BUT none brought them all together on one show and highlighted the common thread... and Joining The Dots.

Hefner - Live @ L2, Liverpool - 25th Oct 1999

Great Lyrics, Great Tunes as John Peel likely said of Hefner. What more can you say.

Taped from an FM Broadcast on BBC Radio 1, as part of the Sound City Festival in      Liverpool in 1999. Full line up was Clinic, Hefner and Flaming Lips.

Paul Daley (Leftfield) Live mix from Moondance @ Pacha, Space, Ibiza Summer 1994

Bought direct from the club, Space in Ibiza during the summer of 1994. A mix from what some would argue is the golden age of Techno by the DJ from Leftfield, who were just about to release the classic Leftism Album.

I'm not trainspotter enough to have put together a track list, let me know if you identify any of the tracks.

Ganger - Live @ King Tuts, Glasgow 10 Day Weekend 1996

Under rated and under appreciated, could have been as big as Tortoise? or split and moved on to other things at just the right time? we'll never know....either way this captures Ganger at their peak in their hometown as part of the 10 Day weekend Festival that took place in October 1996. The full show was with the Pastels and Movietone.

Broadcast on Radio Scotland, Beat Patrol show. Apparently the following weeks show had a live  recording of The Delgados. If anyone has that recording, please get in touch.

Fugees - Rebel Rapper - John Peel Session Track 1994

Early John Peel Session track of classic 1994 hip hop, before fame went to their collective head and they became well. something else. At the time, the Fugees were a new interesting blend of cultures and conscious hip-hop.

This is track 2 of 4 recorded for the show on 8th Sept 1994 and first broadcast on the mighty John Peel's Radio 1 show on 14th October 1994. Source is me taping it off the FM Broadcast at the time and then keeping it in the garage for 26 odd years. If anyone has the other tracks let me know.

Kraftwerk Live @ Global Gathering 24th May 1997

Kraftwerk had never played festivals before, presumably never played outdoors before. They apparently went to the prior year Global Gatherin...
